Aquatopia Cafe //

Last week Matt and I took a drive to check out a place that’s been on my Ottawa list, Aquatopia Cafe, and it did not disappoint!

I just found out about it this summer and after checking out their website I knew I had to get there. It’s about half an hour outside of Ottawa, towards Carp, but totally worth the drive.

It’s actually a water garden conservatory and event venue, and they’ve recently opened the cafe as well. They have a full lunch menu and coffee bar situated in a big greenhouse that’s filled with natural light, gorgeous greenery everywhere, and adorable trinkets, gifts, fairy gardens, and plants to buy.

I’m not going to lie, it was pretty hard to not bring home all the baby succulents with me… but, with my track record I thought it was safer for everyone if I left them there to live happily and alive ;)

We were going to go for a cappuccino, but since it’s a greenhouse and I’m pretty sure this is the hottest August I’ve lived through in Canada we decided to skip the hot drinks and get lunch instead.

We got the duck spring rolls which were delicious. Highly recommend. Their sandwiches and other food looked really good too so I just might have to go back and try something else :)

After we ate we walked around the adjoining greenhouse that was filled with tropical plants of all kinds. I can totally see why people get married here! So pretty.

After that we saw that we were pretty close to Almonte so we jumped back in the car and continued our quest for coffee which lead us to Equator Coffee Roasters.

We came out here last summer, and have been to their Ottawa location a few times too, but it’s always worth stopping in at if you’re in the area.

Despite the air conditioning I still opted for an iced tea over coffee. I feel it was a good choice.

Then it was off to Cheerfully Made in Almonte’s historic (Gilmore Girls-esque) downtown.

I’ve been meaning to get there and browse this shop since sometime last year so I was so happy to finally do it! And oh man, I wanted to buy everything. Maybe it’s a good thing that I don’t get there very often… safer for my bank account ;)

Cheerfully Made, Almonte Ontario // www.thelovelythings.comI was going to ask if I could take photos inside, but there was a bunch of shoppers already in there and I didn’t want to be paparazzi so I refrained.

But seriously, if you’re in the area (or not) you need to check this place out. They have the most unique things – home wares, handmade goods, prints, candles, clothes, kids stuff.. you name it!

And how cute is their entrance! Makes me smile before I even walk in the door :)

It was another great day exploring and enjoying local places.
