I love a good fizzy drink and with the summer heat coming on in full force this week I thought it would be fun to make some!
I started off by making a lemon-lime fizz and an orange-lemonade combo – both of which were pretty delicious on their own. But after I finished shooting them I poured them all into one big glass and turns out that was the best one! My point being: mix it up and try different flavours!
This would be great for a “make-your-own mocktail/cocktail bar” for a baby or bridal shower… you might just want to buy some real fruit juices unless you’re going to con someone into being your juice bartender ;) Citrus Fizz
- fresh orange, lemon, lime juice
- club soda for mocktails or prosecco for cocktails
- simple syrup (boil equal parts water and sugar together for about 5 minutes. Let cool and store in fridge for 1-2 weeks)
- ice cubes
Juice the citruses, pour each juice into separate glasses, and chill them in the fridge for a while.
If you’re super impatient then just add more ice to your drink instead, but this will water it down when they melt and I don’t think it’s quite as tasty then.
Grab a small glass, pour in a splash of simple syrup, and add some ice cubes.
Pour in a combination of the juices to fill about half the glass and then top off the rest of the way with bubbles (aka club soda or prosecco)
Adjust with more simple syrup, soda, or juices to your taste.
Try dressing it up with umbrellas, colorful straws, or sliced citrus to make you feel extra fancy-shmancy if you want :)
For the orange fizz in the photos I sliced some orange peel, wove a skewer through it, dipped it in water and rolled it in sugar. Then I put it in the freezer while I made the other drinks so the sugar would all melt off.
The lemon-lime fizz I just coated the edge of the glass in sugar to give it a little sparkle and skewered a lemon slice.
