Earlier this month I had the pleasure of photographing and participating in The DIY Style Co.‘s very first workshop in Ottawa! It was created by two lovely ladies, Gemma and Caroline, who love DIY’s and wanted to share it with others.
There was about a dozen of us ladies who gathered together at Oh So Good Desserts & Coffee House where Gemma and Caroline had everything set up and ready to show us how to become expert crafters. After we settled in with our lattes, delicious cakes, and whatever other treats you could possibly want, we began our first lesson in jewelry making.
In this workshop we learned how to make 2 different kinds of necklaces – beaded and hand-stamped metal. I’ve always loved the look of stamped jewelry so I was pretty excited about that one in particular.
They supplied all the tools and materials for us to use and had a big variety of beads, metals, etc so we could really personalize each necklace we made. Awesome.
It was great having a smaller group too so that we could get help if we were stuck on something, get input from others, and just have a good time chatting and making without getting overwhelmed.
I’m so happy with the 3 necklaces that I made (keep scrolling down to see those) and I had such a great time! I highly recommend this to anyone in the area, even people who claim they “aren’t crafty”. Do you like a girls night out? Do you like nice people? Do you like cake?? Then you will love this :)
They have a bunch of other workshops already lined up for the coming months and you can check them all out here.
Thanks again to Gemma and Caroline for having me! Until next time…. :)
