A while back I made these little naked confetti cakes with kite and hot air balloon toppers which I loved. But the same day I played around with a less whimsical look and made a big topper from yellow roses and baby’s breath. Confession: I don’t actually like cake or icing. Don’t judge, it’s the only dessert out there that I don’t like, and I have zero self control for any and all other sweets. I do however love the look of over-the-top cakes with flowers piled on it. Probably because I don’t care how it tastes so I as long as it looks amazing thats all that matters to me ;)
Anyway, here is my mini version! I trimmed the stems of the roses and wrapped them in plastic wrap before sticking them into the cake. I did the same with the leaves and baby’s breathe and moved things around until I liked how it looked. The good thing is that if you cover the entire top then you can cover up any flaws from moving the flowers around. Yay! I also used some extra icing to “glue” the leaves on when there wasn’t enough stem to stick into the cake. That’s it!
