Not long ago I posted these bright and happy mini confetti cakes, and today I’m sharing my DIY for the cake toppers that I used!

Really there’s not much instruction to them because they were crazy easy and quick to make. But here it is anyway :)

What you need:
– cardstock or coloured paper (I used gift bags)
– wooden skewers
– toothpicks (for hot air Β balloon)
– wire, like the kind from twist ties or pipe cleaner.
– hot glue gun
– string or narrow ribbon
– scissors

For the kites: cut a 3×2″ rectangle from your paper and then cut the corners off to create the kite shape. Tie teeny little bows with your ribbon and use the hot glue gun to glue them to the wire. Then glue the wire and the skewer to the back of the kite shape.

For the hot air balloon: cut a 2″ circle from your paper for the top, and square for the basket. Mine wasΒ 1″at the top and 3/4″ at the bottom to give it more of a basket shape. I cut the little triangles out too and stuck them on with double sided tape.
Grab 2 toothpicks and hot glue them to the back of the circle and then to the back of the basket. Hot glue the skewer to the basket too.

The clouds I just cut out free hand and hot glued skewers to the back of them too.

That’s it! Super simple, but I love them on top of these fun little cakes.
