I originally planned on making mimosas for my brunch post, but I never did get around to making them for that. But ever since then I’ve had champagne and a bunch of different juices sitting in the fridge so today I finally got around to making some! Luckily for me I had a few people around (thanks family) to help me taste test and sample different recipes and combinations.
I looked around Pinterest for some ideas and these were the ones I decided on trying… or at least bases my concoctions on.
Theirs: Autumn Cider Mimosa
Mine: Apple Cider Mimosa. I didn’t have brandy or orange bitters so I just used apple cider and brown sugar. It was my favourite! And perfect for Christmas morning!
Theirs: Cranberry Mimosa
Mine: I didn’t change anything here, except that I made a single glass instead of a whole batch. It wasn’t amazing. We found it a bit tart, so it probably could’ve used some sugar or sweeter champagne.
Theirs: Creamsicle Mimosa
Mine: I used regular sugar instead of super fine, and I didn’t blend it up together first. I mixed it in a measuring cup with a spoon until the sugar was dissolved. I also added a drop of vanilla to it. I liked the foaminess to it, and all around it’s a good variation on a traditional mimosa.
I also made a Pineapple Creamsicle one like the last one, but replacing the orange juice with pineapple and omitting vanilla. I liked it much more then the orange one!
Strawberry Banana juice + champagne = Bubblegum Mimosa! Found out that one by accident, but it really does.
Peach juice + champagne
Mixed berry juice + cranberry juice + champagne
Go crazy mixing your favourite flavours together and see what you get! Add some fresh fruit as garnish to finish off your delicious drink : )
