DIY panda mug

October 14, 2014

The Lovely Things © Zambonin PhotographyA while ago I posted about these DIY painted plates that I made, and ever since then I’ve wanted to paint more things! I have a slight tea obsession, which happens to create a mug obsession as well…. so I thought I might as well add to the collection and paint a mug…. with panda faces! Because pandas are awesome. And adorable. And as it turns out, if you can paint an oval you can paint a panda face.

I decided that testing out my drawing abilities on paper first would probably be a better idea then just jumping into this paint thing right away. After browsing Pinterest for a while I found some panda faces to base mine off of and Sharpied some out (yes, Sharpie is now a verb in my books).

Once I felt good about my new drawing talents I got out my paint and brush and freehanded it. Scary! But surprisingly it worked out pretty well.

I just used the leftover ceramic paint from my other project, and followed the directions on the bottle to cure it. I know Pinterest has endless “use (oil-based) Sharpies to draw on everything!!!” posts, but a bottle of ceramic paint is under $2 and I like to use what I have.
