I love chandeliers; love love love them! One day I’ll find the perfect one, buy it, and hang it in my house to gaze upon every day. But recently I discovered a few creative people who have taken it upon themselves to make their own out of paper! Ah, paper crafts, the best (aka easiest) kind.
I found a few different DIY’s out there and settled on two, the first one being a little bit elaborate and the second way more simple.
The first one was from Etsy’s Blog which provides links to the templates and all the instructions you need. It’s supposed to be made with cardboard and have an actual lightbulb, but of course I didn’t read that until after I finished cutting out my card stock so I just stuck with my modified version of it. Sadly though, paper doesn’t hold up as well over time so by the next day it was a bit wilted. Live and learn!
The second kind I made was much easier and quicker to do. It was from Craftsy.com and they also provide the free printable template to use. I kind of used it as a starting point and then ended up doing my own thing to see what would happen. And this time my “modifications” worked out! The one I made following the pattern more closely ended up looking a more like an octopus and less like a chandelier so I made a second one that worked out better. I added some hole punches and adjusted the shape, and I think it turned out pretty good.
