August 4th marked our one year wedding anniversary! We usually don’t make a big deal out of things, but I thought that this deserved some sort of special celebration so we decided on a dinner date night in. I wanted to make it look and feel different then a normal night at home so I opted for a black and white theme and started crafting!
After a couple evenings of perusing Pinterest and getting creative this is the final result of our 1st anniversary celebration!
My wedding shoes were black and white striped so I decided to go off that for decorating. That and the fact that I’ve loved stripes and polka dots for years so any excuse to use them is good enough for me! I used some leftover Kate Spade wrapping paper as a table runner/place mats. The paper is double sided, so I almost went with the white and gold polka dots on the other side, but this side won out.
I still had lots of hand stamped napkins from our wedding so this was a great chance to use a few more of them! I also found shoe sketches online that I adapted to match what we wore on our wedding day, and added them to the menu and champagne bottle label that I made and printed.
Pizza is kind of our favourite thing (and by ‘kind of’ I mean it really is), so instead of take out we decided to get fancy and make it at home from scratch – something neither of us had done before. But it was surprisingly easy and soooo delicious.
I also made these painted plates specifically for this, and I think they turned out so great! Chocolate covered strawberries and Oreos finished off our night!
So there’s a little glimpse into our first anniversary. I hope it inspires you to fancy-up your next party or date night!
