I don’t claim to be an expert on anything regarding hair and makeup, but I do know what works for me so I thought I’d share a few of my favourite products!
My go-to hair product: Redken Curvaceous texturizing mousse
Before my last move I had the most amazing hairdresser. Ever. I miss her every time I make a hair cut appointment somewhere else… *sigh*. But she also introduced me to this mousse that changed my (hair) life. I guess I should also mention that I have naturally curly hair, but I do straighten it a lot too. And I’m also told I have fine hair, so I don’t mind a little extra help in the volume department.
Okay, now for the sales pitch (I should really get sponsored here…). A tiny bit of this mousse, rubbed between your hands and combed through your hair with your hands, adds texture which helps add a bit of volume and generally makes hair feel thicker. It also helps hold whatever style you decide – scrunch for curls, comb through after for straight. And best of all you can barely feel it’s there! It’s not heavy, crunchy, or anything.. just natural. And you don’t have to use much at all so one bottle lasts for quite a while. Yay!

I’ve always had problems with my skin and breaking out (worse then the usual break outs). So much so that when I was around 20 I finally went to the doctor to get it sorted out. Thankfully the medial way worked for me and I have had relatively clear skin ever since, but I still like to use cleaners and skin care products that make my skin feel great. Which is why I use Dermalogica. I first used it about 6 years ago and absolutely loved it. They have a million products for all different skin types, so if you want to try it I would find a salon that sells it and talk to them about what is right for you. They also have little trial kits with a few different products in it which is a great way to try it. It is a little on the pricey side, but one regular size bottle usually lasts me about 8 or 9 months, and it’s definitely worth it!

Face moisturizer/foundation: Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer and Cover Girl NatureLuxe foundation (after posting this I went to buy more foundation and discovered that it’s been discontinued. It was replaced by Ready Set Gorgeous foundation and feels the exact same on my skin. Yay!)
I love this moisturizer because it doesn’t feel like its there – in a good way. It’s not greasy, doesn’t leave your face shiny, and its SPF 15 too! In the summer, when it’s really hot out, I hate the feeling of foundation or makeup on my face, and I don’t really even see the point of wearing it. But then I discovered the genius method of combining moisturizer with foundation to create the perfect tinted moisturizer! Really, I think it’s probably what all those BB (CC…?) creams are, but since I already have a moisturizer I like I didn’t want to go through the annoying process of finding a new face product I liked. Never mind wasting money on trying to buy the right shade only to find out its totally wrong. So this is my simple solution: get this lotion, mix it half and half with your foundation (or whatever ratio you like), and blen. Now go outside and enjoy the beautiful summer!

My all time favourite mascara ever: Avon Wash-off Waterproof
Confession time. This was the first mascara my mom bought me when I first started wearing makeup, and I still get her to order it for me from her Avon lady when I’m running low. But seriously, it’s the best!! I tried other brands and types over the years, but nothing even came close to how much I love this one. It is water proof, so I’ve never needed to worry about it running or smudging all over the place. BUT, unlike most water proof mascaras this one washes off super easily! I use Aveeno or any gentle cleanser as a makeup remover and it washes right off.
$6.50 from AVON, but regularly goes on sale for $2.99! Another reason I love it
