In my last post I made these happy little cork boards to have in our front entry way. The purpose being to hold our keys and all those random things that you have at the front door. So here is part 2: awesome gold animal pushpin/hangers!
Originally I wanted to make this key holder from Creative Soul Spectrum that I saw on Pinterest, but I couldn’t find animals big enough or a piece of wood that looked cool like hers. So instead I took part of her idea and used smaller animals to make push pin “hooks”. And heres how I did it!
What you need:
– Toy animals (the dollarstore has bags of them for $1.25)
– Flat head thumb tacks ($1 at the dollars store or any stationary store)
– Paint ($0.69 at Micheal’s)
– Razor or knife
– E600 glue ($5.99 at Home Depot or Michael’s)
Start by cutting your animals in half. This part makes you feel like a terrible person, but once you get it over with you’ll be fine ; )
Glue the thumbtack to the cut part of the animal and let them dry. I used clothespins to hold them up so they could dry straight.
Then it’s time to paint them! Once again, I probably should’ve used a primer or something because it took 4-5 coats to get mine to look gold. One day I’ll learn!
Once they’re dry, pin away!
